How To Reserve A Ride

How does a person reserve a ride with CKCATS?

When you will be paying for travel yourself, just contact us at 1-800-242-8225 or (270) 692-2136, before 3:00 p.m. the previous day to reserve a ride. You may call up to 30 days in advance to schedule transportation, and be prepared to give a CKCATS dispatcher the following information:

  • Name of Passenger(s)
  • Social Security Number
  • Date of Birth
  • Date and Time of Travel
  • Your Pick Up Address
  • Destination Address
  • Telephone Number
  • Source of Payment
  • Questions regarding your Mobility or Special Needs

When your travel is to be authorized through Medicaid/Passport, you need to contact GRITS Community Action at 1-844-870-4646; or for Washington County you will need to contact Bluegrass Community Action (BUS) at 1-800-456-6588, at least three (3) days in advance. You will want to request that CKCATS be your transportation provider.

  • If your travel will be paid by a social service program, private insurance company or other third party payee, an authorized person from the responsible organization/company must contact CKCATS to confirm pay arrangements.
  • For medical trips, please schedule as early as possible, with at least 24 hours notice for general public, veterans, and seniors (72 hours notice required for trips paid by Medicaid).
  • For passenger convenience, schedule appointments with doctors and medical facilities between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (EST).
  • Wheelchair lift equipment is available upon request.
  • Service Animals Accommodated.
  • Portable Personal Oxygen Tanks Accommodated.

The Kentucky Relay Service enables the hearing or speech impaired and deaf persons to call and conveniently communicate transportation needs to CKCATS. You can reach the Kentucky Relay Service as follows:

Each driver receives extensive training including First Aid, CPR, Passenger Assistance Techniques, Preventative Maintenance and Defensive Driving. The total fleet consists of sixty-five (65) vehicles, forty-eight (48) which are handicapped accessible.

Cancellation or No-Shows

Clients and passengers need to call the CKCATS toll-free number (1-800-242-8225) at least 24 hours in advance if they find they must cancel their scheduled trip. Person who reserve a trip and fail to cancel in advance will be considered a no-show. If there are repeated no-shows, the clients file will be reviewed as to whether further trips will be scheduled.
